| Grandmother's Gingerbread |
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup white sugar
1 beaten egg
1 cup molasses
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cloves
1 cup hot water | Grease and flour a 8-inch or 9-inch square cake pan. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and molasses, beat well. Combine dry ingredients in small bowl and blend into butter mixture. Add hot water and beat until smooth. Bake for 45 minutes. Serve with cream, ice cream, frozen yogourt, or as it is. Delicious ! |
